"We Have Come To Sing Praises" CD

Gospel Music has gained a special place in the Bahá'í Community with the memorable and soul-stiring performances of the Bahá'í Gospel Singers at the 2nd Bahá'í World Congress, held in New York City in November 1992. Sixty Singers, mostly African Americans, came together to learn and perform Gospel songs for the 30,000 persons who came to this historic event from 180 countries throughout the world. The singers came from Bermuda, Canada and nineteen states in the U.S. to share music from their own cultural heritage. It was a reawakening of their African American roots and a new way for them to share their love to Bahá'u'lláh with Bahá'ís from al over the world. The songs recorded here for the first time recapture the spirit that filled the Ramada Hotel Ballroom, where the Gospel Singers gave their concert and the vast spaces of the Jacobs Javits Center where they raised their voices to sing In This Day Bahá'u'lláh and We Have Come To Sing Praises!
